BanglaTools is a free online collection of Bangla text tools built for the Bengali-speaking community worldwide. Our mission is to make Bangla text processing simple, fast, and accessible to everyone — from students to government workers, from publishers to developers.

Whether you need to convert Unicode text to Bijoy for desktop publishing, fix garbled Bangla text from an old document, type Bangla using English letters, or count words in a Bengali paragraph, BanglaTools has a purpose-built utility that works instantly in your browser. No software to install, no account to create, no file to upload.

What We Offer

Our tools cover the entire Bangla text processing ecosystem:

  • Converters — Unicode ⇄ Bijoy, ANSI ⇄ Unicode, Avro ⇄ Bijoy, Avro ⇄ Unicode, Bijoy ⇄ Avro, and a smart auto-detecting converter that identifies the input encoding for you.
  • Typing — Online Bangla keyboard with click-to-type layout, phonetic (Avro) typing, and a typing practice tool for beginners learning Bangla input.
  • Fonts — Font preview, font compatibility checker, font pair checker, font generator, and a "What Font Is This?" detector to identify unknown Bangla fonts in documents.
  • Utilities — Word counter, character counter, line counter, text compare (diff tool), sort lines, remove duplicate lines, and broken text fixer for mojibake repair.
  • Documents — Word and PDF conversion, OCR for scanned documents and images (coming soon).
  • Validation — Unicode validator to check for invalid code points, broken conjuncts, and normalization issues in Bangla text.

Our Story

BanglaTools was created to solve a problem that affects millions of Bengali speakers every day: the incompatibility between Unicode and legacy Bijoy encoding. In Bangladesh, many government offices, printing presses, and publishing houses still rely on Bijoy fonts like SutonnyMJ, while the modern web, social media, and mobile devices use Unicode. This creates a constant need to convert text between formats — and existing tools were often slow, required software installation, or sent sensitive text to remote servers.

We built BanglaTools to be different: a fast, private, and free platform that runs entirely in the browser. Every conversion, every analysis, every tool — all processed locally on your device. Your text never leaves your computer, phone, or tablet. This privacy-first approach is especially important for journalists, government workers, and businesses handling sensitive documents.

Privacy First

All our tools process text entirely in your browser. Your data never leaves your device. This is not just a feature — it is a core design principle. We believe text processing tools should not require you to upload your personal or professional documents to a server. When you paste a government memo, a thesis paper, or a confidential business document into BanglaTools, you can be confident that the text is processed locally and never transmitted over the internet.

We do not use tracking cookies for the conversion tools themselves. The only third-party services on this website are Google AdSense for advertising (which supports our free model) and privacy-friendly analytics to help us understand which tools are most used. Technology & Architecture

BanglaTools is built with modern web technologies. The frontend uses Astro for fast, static-rendered pages with React components for interactive tools. All conversion logic is implemented in JavaScript and runs client-side — meaning the conversion algorithms execute directly in your browser's JavaScript engine. There is no backend server processing your text, no API calls transmitting your data, and no database storing your input.

The Bijoy ⇄ Unicode mapping tables are based on the established Bijoy keyboard encoding standard used in Bangladesh, with additional handling for edge cases like the জ/। (ja/danda) ambiguity, reph (রফলা) placement, and complex conjuncts (যুক্তাক্ষর). The Avro phonetic engine uses a rule-based matching system that covers the full Avro phonetic specification.

All basic tools are free and will remain free. No registration, no limits, no hidden costs. We may offer premium features for document processing and batch conversion in the future, but the core text conversion tools will always be free. The tools are supported by advertising (Google AdSense) to cover hosting and development costs — this allows us to keep everything free for the community.

Roadmap
